Won't argue the claim about LinkedIn being the social network boasting members with the highest average income among other networks. However, does correlation necessarily imply causation in this case? Or is it possible that executives and those already with high incomes join LinkedIn for the apparent opportunity to network and/or recruit talent? I have no doubt that this motivates many of the higher ups who are on LinkedIn (perhaps in addition to the quest for status boosting), but how much of that intent gets converted into successful recruiting or client acquisition? Would be really interesting to see a statistic on jobs found through LinkedIn or deals made through it. Would also be interesting to see which demographics and industries benefit the most in this way from using LinkedIn.
